As of summer 2025, Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) has published a career pathway for Genomics in Wales, as part of their NHS Wales Career Pathways initiative.
The pathway highlights the full journey for qualifications for all genomics professionals in Wales, including Genetic Counsellors, starting from initial considerations and qualifications, through to relevant degrees and registration, all the way up to Consultant Genetic Counsellors.
