The AGNC recommends that genetic counsellors working in the UK and Ireland are registered with the Genetic Counsellor Registration Board (GCRB). The AGNC expects all genetic counsellors to have, or be working towards, professional registration that is current and valid.

The Joint Committee on Genetic Counsellor Regulation (JCGCR) was formed to consider issues around the regulation of the profession, it closed in 2020.
