AGNC
Study Award |
|
|
This award is to
encourage and enable AGNC members to
present
and/or attend UK study opportunities. For
example: the AGNC
Spring meeting, the annual BSHG meeting, CGS
Spring meeting, Cancer Genetic Conference.
The
following guidelines have been produced by
the Committee with the aim of awarding funds
in a fair and transparent way. |

Eligibility
of Applicants |
|
|
|
1.
To
qualify for consideration applicants must
have been an AGNC and BSHG
member for one year prior to the date of
application.
Applications will be forwarded
to the secretary of the BSHG to ensure
membership payments are up-to-date.
Successful applicants may not re-apply for a
study award until a 3 year period
has expired between dates of application.
3.
No retrospective applications
will be considered. |

How
to Apply |
|
|
|
1.
Applicants
should provide an informal application by
email. This
should be sent
to the BSHG office for the attention of the
AGNC Committee.
This should include:

The Committee will make a
decision on outstanding applications as soon
as
possible after the following cut off dates:
1st February, 1st June
and 1st November.
Applications should be received at least two
weeks before the cut off date.
3.
Applicants will be informed of
the Committee’s decision within four weeks
of the
deadline date.

Awarding
of Monies |
|
|
|
1.
A
sum of £300 is set aside annually from AGNC
funds to support the awards.
2.
The award does not aim to pay
full costs and a maximum of £50 will be set
aside
for each application.
3.
If there are more applications
than available funds priority will be given
to those
who are:
1.
Allocation of money will be
monitored to ensure that a disproportionate
amount of
money is not supporting individuals employed
by the same institution.
2.
A pre-requisite of accepting
any sum from the AGNC study award will be
written
feedback from the meeting which will be
available to the AGNC membership
i.e. inclusion in the newsletter or
presentation at an AGNC meeting.
3.
Monies will be awarded at the
discretion of the AGNC Committee and
their
decision is final.

International AGNC Travel Award |
|
|
An award has been set up to
encourage and enable AGNC members to present
and attend international meetings relevant
to the field of genetic counselling. This
award is separate to the AGNC travel award
for the annual BSHG meeting.
This new award is to be set up to encourage
and enable AGNC members to present and
attend international meetings relevant to
the field of genetic counselling. This award
is separate to the AGNC travel award for the
annual BSHG meeting.

How to Apply
1. Applicants should provide an informal

the BSHG office for the attention of the
AGNC Committee. This should include:
- A brief CV
- Abstract of presentation/reason for
attendance
- Rough breakdown of costs
2. The Committee will make a decision on
outstanding applications on the following
dates: 1st February, 1st June and 1st
November
3. Applicants will be informed of the
Committee’s decision within 10 working days
of the deadline date. |

3. If there are more applications than

- Presenting platform presentations
- First time presenters
- Presenting significant new findings
- Attending meetings most relevant to the
aims of the AGNC.
4. A limit will be made on the amount of
money used to support any one meeting i.e.
EMPAG.
5. Allocation of money will be monitored to
ensure that a disproportionate amount of
money is not supporting individuals employed
by the same institution.
6. A pre-requisite of accepting any sum from
the AGNC international travel award will be
written feedback from the meeting which will
be available to the AGNC membership i.e.
inclusion in the newsletter or presentation
at an AGNC meeting.
7. Monies will be awarded at the discretion
of the AGNC Committee and their decision is
final. |
