The Genetic Counsellor's Application to Join the HPC

The Genetic Counsellor's application to join the HPC will be submitted in Autumn 2008.  For full details please see the GCSRSG Flow Chart  of Events towards Statutory Regulation of Genetic Counsellors 2001 -2009, the information on this page and the archived documents and presentations.

Grandparenting Arrangements

Since the voluntary registration process began in 2002, practicing genetic counsellors not fulfilling the minimum entry level criteria for registration have been given opportunity to register via a "Grandfather Clause".  The deadline for the closure of this clause (submission of portfolio before September 2008) has been widely publicised by the Genetic Counsellor Registration Board.

The GCSRSG will therefore recommend that the HPC do not introduce a further grandparenting clause for genetic counsellors if our application is accepted.
